Watching Breakfast Television this morning? Tasha is checking out the remodelling of a garage, getting stuff off the floor and onto shelving. Note at the back of the garage there is a foil flex-pipe snaking its way to an exterior wall, dangling like some piece of pipe from a scene in 'Alien.' Flex pipe over a distance like that will get wet inside and eventually clog up. That is not the way to vent a dryer. Air moving through the duct from the dryer is humid and the pipe itself will slow the air as it moves allowing condensation, this is resistance to air movement. Use smooth metal pipe to cut resistance to air movement in half. Use duct tape on the joints so fluff doesn't snag on screws and to avoid condensation forming on the duct and dripping on the garage floor, insulate the first 8 ft. of duct starting at the exterior wall.
